Congressman Van Drew Issues Statement on BBB Being Dead Just in Time for the Holidays

Congressman Van Drew issued the following statement regarding President Biden’s agenda, Build Back Better, being dead just in time for the holidays.

“The recent news that Senator Manchin (D-WV) will not be supporting the socialist tax and spend spree, Build Back Better (BBB), is great news for every American and this country,” said Congressman Van Drew. “Democrats lost their leverage to muster enough votes to pass this reckless spending package after the hard infrastructure bill was signed into law. President Biden does not have control over his party, and this was proven by the fact that despite controlling the presidency, the House, and Senate, he cannot pass his major piece of legislation that was the center of his campaign for President.

“Progressives on the left, including Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO), have said for weeks that if the Bipartisan Infrastructure bill was voted on first, Democrats would lose the leverage they had in order to get the tax and spending bill, BBB, passed and signed into law —which is exactly what happened. Democrats must start working with Republicans, and moderates within their own party, so we can pass legislation that will be beneficial for every American, without destroying our country’s economy in the process.”
