Yesterday, Congress averted a government shutdown by passing a stopgap bill that will fund the federal government through February 18th.
But Nebraska Congressman Don Bacon did not vote with the majority, instead voting to shutdown the government.
State Senator Tony Vargas, who is running against Bacon, issued the following statement:
“Don Bacon’s vote to shut down the government is irresponsible and unacceptable and it shows how completely out of touch he is. Nebraskans need action that will get our economy moving, address inflation, strengthen supply chains, and help fight the new COVID variant. Instead of leading, he is playing partisan political games and standing with his party instead of Nebraskans. We deserve better -- that’s why I’m running for Congress.”
