Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that the Memphis Housing Authority will receive $6,869,040 and the Millington Housing Authority will receive $207,199 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Capital Fund Program.

The funding was provided through HUD’s Capital Fund Program, which awarded $2.7 billion nationwide. The grants are for public housing authorities to build, renovate, and/or modernize the public housing in their communities. Housing authorities can use the funding to complete large-scale improvements, such as replacing roofs or making energy-efficient upgrades to heating systems and installing water conservation measures.

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

“Residents of public housing and those receiving housing assistance deserve to live in well-maintained structures. This funding is both timely and necessary.”
