Ezra Scott for Congress: Ezra Scott’s Thoughts on Recent Rash of Cop Killings

With the recent plague of the brutal murders and shootings of our men and women in blue, it has become very apparent that the handling of crime by these Democrat Mayors doesn’t work.

The historical fact is this; while the left called it racism, the number of violent crimes was reduced significantly by former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani’s policy of “stop and frisk” in the Big Apple. Gun violence plunged while these police tactics were used. Now compare today’s statistics with the statistics of his tenure as Mayor.

In the wake of the George Floyd killing in Minneapolis, Minnesota riots broke out nearly nationwide. And the fact was, this was the opportunity that the far fringe politically motivated left in this nation used to call for the “defunding” of police departments. Many cities such as Minneapolis, New York City, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Seattle, and more did just that.

Some 1 1/2 -2 years later, we now see the results. Murder and gun-related crimes in these cities and more have skyrocketed to mind-boggling numbers. Residents of these cities now live in fear of simply walking down the street to the grocery store. This is ridiculous and tragic, to say the least. Moreover, the lack of a pronounced police presence on our largest city’s streets has led to an “open season” on our law enforcement officers. This must stop and stop now.

Without a police presence and enforcement of our laws, America will (and has already) descended into chaos. Our cities simply cannot be allowed to turn into war zones.
