WHEREAS, public servants play a critical role in providing and supporting the framework within which Alaska’s schools, businesses, and communities can thrive; and

WHEREAS, Alaska is home to thousands of Federal, State and local public servants who work tirelessly every day serving the people of Alaska; and

WHEREAS, the call to public service is a call to uphold the safety, health, and wellbeing of Alaska’s communities and to work towards a brighter future for all Alaskans; and

WHEREAS, Alaska, the Last Frontier, is unique in its size, population, geography, and infrastructure, presenting unique challenges and opportunities for residents and public servants alike; and

WHEREAS, public service in Alaska requires creativity, dedication, and the desire to solve problems not present elsewhere; and

WHEREAS, we recognize the service and dedication of Alaska’s hard working public servants who serve and always seek to uphold the wellbeing of Alaskans.

NOW THEREFORE, I, Mike Dunleavy, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF ALASKA, do hereby proclaim May 1-7, 2022 as:

Public Service Recognition Week

and May 4, 2022 as:

State Employee Appreciation Day

in Alaska, and encourage all Alaskans to recognize and appreciate the role public servants play in upholding the health, safety, and wellbeing of all Alaskans.
