What happened on the subway train in Brooklyn, New York today leaving dozens injured or dead should not have happened. On this, we can all agree.
The point of discussion should be and needs to be, whom, what, and why this happened? Was it an insane person? Was it a terrorist of unknown affiliation? Or was it a disgruntled transit worker who became unhinged?
The “what” is simple to answer? An evil person with a chip on their shoulder walked onto a subway train, tossed a couple of canisters of smoke grenades, and opened fire on innocent civilians going about their daily lives.
The “why” is tougher and we may not know until the suspect is captured and talks if he ever will. Then we will know “whom” as well.
The Democrats including the President will no doubt use this and add it to his reasoning to “ban” certain types of firearms. He has made a pretense about his desire to ban semi-automatic firearms such as the very popular AR-15. As of my writing this, I have not yet found a news report telling what type of gun was used in today’s mass shooting.
I have said this a thousand times, and it is worth repeating.
Guns do not kill people, people kill people and use guns!
In Europe where guns are hard to get for the general public, they still manage to obtain them when someone wants to perform evil. They also use large knives, machetes, baseball bats, bombs, and many other instruments including delivery vans. Remember France from a couple of years back? Remember the mass destruction and pain caused by the IRA in Belfast, Ireland? Hundreds and hundreds died in sidewalk cafés, movie theaters, churches, and more during that uprising.
What needs to happen rather than unconstitutional acts, is a change of hearts amongst our American citizens. We need to learn to become more patient with each other. We need to learn to respect each other’s space, privacy, and very life.
We live in the greatest nation the world has ever known. We all need to be appreciative of that fact. The more we harm each other, the more damage we do to our future rights and privileges. And by this, we do more damage to our nation.
The fact is, these large urban areas need to take a page out of former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani’s playbook. Put the “WOKE” crap on the shelf, and start “stopping and frisking.” The left hated it, but the fact was, it worked. Rudy cut crime and gun crime dramatically in the years that stop and frisk were in play.
