Just when most of conservative America is celebrating the purchase of Twitter by multi-billionaire Elon Musk, we are now finding out about a forthcoming book about the days following the storming of Capitol Hill on January 6, 2021.
In an article by Business Insider today, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy privately told Republican lawmakers that he wanted social media companies to ban some of their more outspoken colleagues after the insurrection, according to a forthcoming book by two New York Times reporters.
A couple of thoughts about this latest revelation.
- Anyone not residing under a rock for the past ten years knows full well that Twitter was nothing but a very liberal platform that despised anything conservative. The list is long and prestigious of the conservative accounts banned by Twitter for “inflammatory speech.” From the President of the United States to his children, to actors such as James Woods (who was later reinstated), to activists such as Charlie Kirk. If you were a conservative on Twitter and put out conservative rhetoric, then your days were numbered.
- Elon Musk made it very clear as to “why” he decided to purchase Twitter. Simply put, I will restore free speech to America and the world.
- Today we see another multi-billionaire Jeff Bezos (the owner of Amazon and the Washington Post), whining because he fears what Elon is doing with Twitter. In fact, he said that “NOBODY” should have that much power in media. Excuse me? This guy owns one of the most quoted news publications in the industry and has been a mouthpiece for the Democrat Party for years. And suddenly, Mr. Bezos is concerned about free speech.
Now my thoughts about House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy. Leader McCarthy made these unfortunate statements in the wake of January 6, and they should have never been made until more evidence surfaced. For him to immediately be so willing to strip free speech rights is despicable, in my opinion. A Republican Leader should be defending our 1st Amendment right first and foremost. Sadly, he was so willing to silence the rights of American citizens without due process.
