Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a senior member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and its Subcommittee on Aviation, today announced a grant of $15,000,000 to Memphis International Airport from the Department of Transportation (DOT) to support the ongoing construction of deicing pads and associated facilities.

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

“After the historic cold that hit Memphis this winter, it is clearer than ever that Memphis International Airport must be prepared to keep our airport running, rain, snow, or shine. I was happy to write a letter of support for this project and I am even more pleased to see the grant be made. This grant will provide additional funds for the airport to continue the construction of deicing pads. Continued funding of this important project will improve the experience and safety of the flying public transiting Memphis, particularly in wintry conditions. This grant is an investment in our airport and the economic engine it represents in our community.”
