Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a senior member of the Judiciary Committee and Chairman of its Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties, today questioned FBI Director Christopher Wray about whether the agency is investigating former President Trump’s role in inciting the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

In his exchange with the Director, Congressman Cohen said in part:

“You’ve done an admirable job so far with the foot soldiers in the January 6 insurrection – kind of like going after Al Capone and getting all of the lottery salesmen and the people doing the bootlegging in the streets. To the best of my knowledge, you haven’t gone after the people who incited the riot – the Big Boss, the leader, which is Donald Trump. Do you have any investigation, or have you done anything to look into Trump’s activity on the day of the insurrection, records of White House calls in and out or meetings he and Roger Stone and others may have had with leaders of the coup?”

Wray responded that some conspiracy charges have now been brought in the January 6 case but that he was limited in what he could disclose about pending investigations. Congressman Cohen urged Wray to fully investigate the role of Trump and the White House in the attack on the Capitol. See the entire exchange here
