WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Congresswoman Dingell (MI-12) released the below statement after the Israeli Security Cabinet and Hamas confirmed a mutual ceasefire following 11 days of deadly violence:

“Over 240 innocent people – 232 Palestinians and 12 Israelis – lost their lives in the last 11 days, while thousands were displaced from the safety of their own homes. This ceasefire is an important step in deescalating violence and safeguarding lives, but this isn’t an end to the continued tensions and humanitarian crises in the Middle East. Congress and the Biden-Harris Administration must proactively work together to stop immoral human rights violations, support humanitarian efforts, and address the drivers of this conflict so that we can reach long-term peace and security for all communities across the region.”
