Congressman Cohen Announces $7.8 Million in Minority Health Program Grants to Memphis and Shelby County

Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that Memphis and Shelby County will receive grants totaling $7,855,982 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Minority Health. The City of Memphis will receive $3.9 million for the Memphis Fire Department’s healthcare navigator program. Shelby County will receive $3,955,982 to help build public, academic and community partnerships in response to COVID-19.

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

“This funding is a substantial investment in outreach to our most vulnerable residents for important programs that will save lives. The Memphis Fire Department’s navigator program is a novel and effective way to get health care delivered to those in need quickly.”
