Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a senior member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Aviation, today announced that Memphis International Airport (MEM) will receive grants from the Federal Aviation Administration totaling $49,359,349 authorized by the American Rescue Plan  he voted for that became law in March. The funding is intended to address the economic consequences of the coronavirus pandemic which has drastically affected air travel. The funding includes $1,986,200 to help shore up MEM’s concessions.

General Dewitt Spain Airport and Millington-Memphis Airport will each receive $59,000 in airport rescue funding.

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

“I was proud to vote for the American Rescue Plan because I knew how much it would do to address the economic fallout from the pandemic, especially for major economic engines like our Memphis airport. This will keep people working as our economy continues to recover and is a smart investment in our community.”
