WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Alex X. Mooney (WV-02) announced a $1,234,838 U.S. Department of Justice grant awarded to the West Virginia Department of Homeland Security in Charleston as part of the federal government’s efforts to assist local municipalities in a broad range of enforcement mechanisms used to prevent and control crime. These grants allow local governments to allocate federal funds to areas of need. Funding will be provided through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program.

“I am pleased to report this funding for the West Virginia Department of Homeland Security. It will provide enhanced crime fighting tools and technology to support West Virginia law enforcement authorities,” said Congressman Mooney. “This grant provides resources in the name of technical assistance, training, personnel, equipment, supplies, contractual support and information systems for criminal justice. I will continue to support our local law enforcement agencies that are essential to the safety and security of West Virginia communities.”
