DEARBORN, MI – Today Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (MI-12) released the following statement on the passing of Michigan Court of Appeals Judge Karen Fort Hood.

“Judge Karen Fort Hood was a brilliant judge, dedicated to upholding the law and ensuring the fair judicial treatment of everyone that came before the Court of Appeals. Judge Hood made history here in Michigan when she became the first Black woman to be elected to the Michigan Court of Appeals and first Black woman elected chair of the Michigan Judicial Tenure Commission. My thoughts are with Judge Hood’s loved ones as we mourn this significant loss for Michigan.”
