SOUTH CHARLESTON – Congressman Alex X. Mooney (WV-02) today announced a $70,000 investment from the U.S. Economic Development Authority (EDA) awarded to the Regional Intergovernmental Council in South Charleston, West Virginia.

“I have seen firsthand how vital these investments can be as communities in West Virginia work towards a successful and more prosperous Mountain State. I’m pleased to see these funds being awarded in Kanawha County,” said Congressman Mooney. “This is a step in the path towards economic recovery and prosperity in the Kanawha Valley.”

This investment supports the establishment of an economic development planning framework, process and strategy that encourages private investment and economic growth in the region. The Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) process is designed to create a partnership between the public and private sectors in the creation of an economic development roadmap to diversify and strengthen the regional economy.
