“Senator Bob Dole was a giant on Capitol Hill and beyond. He legislated with civility, decency, and honor and understood the importance of bipartisanship. He was good friends with John for decades, both being World War II veterans who shared many common bonds. Bob Dole loved this country and served it with courage. Throughout his career, he was a champion for veterans and the disability community, often surprising many Honor Flights at the World War II Memorial and remembering their times of service together. I’ve felt the pain of losing a spouse and still feel it every day. My love goes to Elizabeth and the entire Dole family as they celebrate his legacy and reflect on happy memories together.”
