WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (MI-12), Co-Chair of the Great Lakes Task Force, announced $742 million in federal infrastructure funding for the Soo Locks and Brandon Road Lock and Dam projects, both critical water infrastructure projects supporting the Great Lakes.

“The Great Lakes and their waterways are a way of life – providing fresh water, fish and wildlife habitat, and countless opportunities for recreation, while supporting surrounding states’ economies and hundreds of thousands of good-paying, American jobs,” said Dingell. “We’ve seen what happens when we all work together to both protect the lakes and boost our economy. Grateful for the Biden-Harris Administration’s support for water infrastructure – especially within the Great Lakes – and looking forward to working with my colleagues to ensure the funding is quickly directed to revitalize these critical projects.”

The Soo Locks project will receive $516.2 million to finalize a new lock and the Brandon Road Lock and Dam project will receive $225.8 million to fight against invasive species as part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
