DEARBORN, MI - Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (MI-12) tonight released the following statement after Governor Gretchen Whitmer delivered her annual State of the State address:

“Tonight, Governor Gretchen Whitmer outlined her plans to support working families by cutting taxes and lowering costs, create good-paying, American jobs, and boost manufacturing in Michigan and transition to clean energy. Michigan put the world on wheels – plain and simple. It’s only right that we continue that tradition and stay at the forefront of innovation and technology. General Motors made that clear yesterday as they announced new battery plants here at home. Michigan is going to lead on manufacturing the batteries and components for electric vehicles and we’re going to make those vehicles affordable too. Not to mention, this transition is going to create thousands of good jobs in domestic manufacturing. These are all critical issues that my constituents in Michigan’s 12th District and people across the state care deeply about, and I’m committed to working with Governor Whitmer and our local officials to get the job done. Let’s continue to work together to better our state for Michiganders and ensure we’re the face of electric vehicle manufacturing.”
