Congressman Cohen Announces $4.1 Million in NIH Grants to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and UTHSC

Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced two grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) totaling $4,192,346 to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and to the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC).

The St. Jude grant for $1,077,000, from the National Cancer Institute, is for research on the progression of leukemia. The UTHSC grant for $3,115,346, from the Director’s Office at NIH, is for radiobiology research.

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

“I am always pleased to see the National Institutes of Health investing in the critical work being done at our premiere medical research institutions. These grants will lead to important discoveries and will ultimately save lives.”
