Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) is monitoring the situation following the shooting of a child at Cummings Elementary School this morning and made the following statement:
“I am disheartened, saddened and shocked to learn that a child has been shot by another student while in an elementary school. One thing is clear: we have too many guns in the wrong hands. Gun violence begs for comprehensive background checks. I hope the injured child will recover quickly without lingering effects. My thoughts are with the entire Cummings Elementary School community.”
