Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a senior member of the Judiciary Committee and its Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, and Homeland Security, today announced that Memphis and Shelby County will share an Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant of $931,746 from the Department of Justice. The grant is intended to prevent or control crime based on a local assessment of needs.

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

“This timely and important law enforcement grant will address our community’s most pressing crime problems. It is designed to focus on needs local law enforcement leaders identify, and I am sure it will be used wisely.”
