SPRINGFIELD, MA—This morning, Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following statement in response to the Biden Administration’s announcement that the first monthly payment of the expanded Child Tax Credit from the American Rescue Plan will be delivered on July 15:

“The American Rescue Plan delivered the immediate relief our country needed to get through the darkest days of the pandemic, and is providing the sustained support for the better days that we know are coming. Now, every month, millions of families will receive more meaningful support thanks to the expanded Child Tax Credit. The Biden Administration worked tirelessly to get this program up and running in a matter of a few short months, and I am so grateful for their partnership in working to cut child poverty in half. But now that nearly 90 percent of our nation’s children will benefit from this critical lifeline, we must make this change permanent. Millions of families are counting on us, and the Ways and Means Committee stands ready to make it happen.”
