SPRINGFIELD, MA—Ways and Means Chairman Richard E. Neal (D-MA) marked Labor Day with the following statement:

“The American economy and our local communities were built by our nation’s workers and the labor movement. Throughout the pandemic, our most essential workers have shown up for their neighbors, and we thank them for their courage and service. The Ways and Means Committee, congressional Democrats, and the Biden Administration are on the precipice of recognizing these contributions by finally leveling the playing field and investing in key policies like paid leave, child care, and expanded retirement saving options so that opportunity will abound for all those we honor this Labor Day.”
