Today, Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following statement after the House of Representatives passed H. Res. 601, the Resolution on the Budget for Fiscal Year 2022:

“Today, Democrats affirmed that we are going to seize the once-in-a-generation opportunity before us and fundamentally change our economy for the better. From investing in essential workplace supports like paid family and medical leave to combatting the climate crisis with pro-worker clean energy policies, Ways and Means Democrats are ready to advance major pillars of President Biden’s Build Back Better agenda.

“Our Committee will rise to this moment and make the transformative investments necessary to level the playing field for the better days that lie ahead. Our priorities are grounded in the belief that when the American economy is inclusive, it’s stronger and more resilient. While it may be the road that gets people to work, it’s basics like paid leave and child care that get them through the day and allow working families to do more than just get by. It’s up to us to make this a reality.”
