WASHINGTON, DC – House Ways and Means Chairman Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following statement after the House of Representatives passed the Senate Amendment to the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act:

“Tonight, we finally delivered on historic federal investments in broadband, clean drinking water, public transit, and an array of sustainable infrastructure investments. This plan recognizes the desperate need to upgrade our roads, highways, and bridges while also making a significant down payment on tackling the climate crisis. When taken together, these investments will create good-paying jobs, supercharge our competitiveness, and ultimately, help us continue down the path to build back better.

“While this is a monumental investment in our nation, our work is far from finished. I maintain that it may be the road that gets people to their jobs each day, but basic workplace supports like child care and paid family and medical leave are what keep them employed. We cannot miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make investments that ensure the economy works for all Americans and their families. I urge my colleagues to join me in continuing our progress and supporting the Build Back Better Act as well.”
