48,000 Illegal Immigrants Have Failed to Report and Remain Unaccounted for in the U.S.
Washington, D.C. - Congressman David B. McKinley, P.E. (WV-01) joined 80 of his House colleagues in sending a letter to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) demanding answers related to President Biden’s failed Catch and Release program.
“The Biden Administration has failed to take aggressive action and appropriately respond to the out-of-control immigration crisis at our southern border. Unsurprisingly, President Biden’s Catch and Release program is dangerously ineffective and has allowed illegal immigrants to enter and remain in this country with no consequence,” said Rep. McKinley.
“This Administration needs to get serious about securing the border, enforcing the law, and combatting fentanyl traffickers,” said Rep. McKinley. “Reestablishing standard enforcement of immigration laws would be the first step to do this.

This letter comes in response to reports that 47,705 illegal aliens who were conditionally released from ICE custody with a Notice to Report failed to check-in with authorities between March and August of 2021.
In 2018, President Trump ended the Obama-era Catch and Release program, sending the message that the free-for-all at the border has ended. Almost immediately upon taking office, President Biden reinstated this ineffective program and the results have proven the shortcomings of this program to manage the crisis southern border.
