Massachusetts

Today, Congressman Richard E. Neal highlighted a new report from the White House outlining how Massachusetts received more than double the amount of home energy assistance funds than it received in 2021. Through the passage of the American Rescue Plan and annual appropriations, Congressman Neal helped secure a record $307.5 million for Massachusetts families through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).

As Americans continue to deal with the impacts of the pandemic and high energy costs, Massachusetts families and seniors are able to use these investments to lower the costs of staying warm this winter, cover utilities and pay for energy repairs.

“As the temperatures plummet and the New England cold sets in, Massachusetts families will be able to afford energy costs and stay warm, safe, and healthy this winter thanks to the American Rescue Plan,” said Congressman Neal. “Many individuals and families are still recovering from the pandemic. This investment will ensure that they do not have to choose between putting food on the table or paying for heat.”

Massachusetts residents should apply directly with the MA Department of Housing and Community Development.
