Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) congratulated Arlisa Armstrong, the long serving Area Director for West Tennessee with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), on being named Rural Development State Director for Tennessee today by President Biden.

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

“I am very pleased President Biden has selected Arlisa Armstrong as USDA’s Rural Development State Director for Tennessee. Ms. Armstrong, the first African American and the first woman appointed to this important post, is an esteemed public servant well known in West Tennessee, where she has served as the USDA’s area director since 2010 and has worked to bring prosperity and economic opportunity to the region. I wish her well in the new job.”
