Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a senior member of the Judiciary Committee, today announced that Shelby County will receive a $1.2 million grant from the Justice Department’s Bureau of Justice Assistance for substance abuse treatment for people formerly convicted of non-violent crimes.
Congressman Cohen made the following statement:
“Opioid and other addictions can make it significantly more difficult for those who completed their sentences to quickly and productively re-enter society. This funding provides crucial support to this vulnerable population.”
