Today, Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (MI-12) issued the following statement on the Senate’s bipartisan framework to reduce gun violence, which includes a provision she has long championed with legislation to protect survivors of domestic abuse:

“Children all across our country gathered yesterday to send a clear message to Congress that more must be done to bring an end to the gun violence epidemic in this country. While the framework announced by a bipartisan group of Senators today does not include every gun safety provision I wanted, this will help move us forward and will save lives. I was also grateful to see that the framework takes an important first step in protecting survivors of domestic abuse by preventing abusers from gaining access to guns, which is a provision I have long fought for, but this is only the beginning, not the end, of our work. This framework can and will make our nation safer. It is time to get this done.”
