WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, EMILY’s List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, congratulated Shontel Brown on her election to represent Ohio’s 11th District in Congress. Laphonza Butler, president of EMILY’s List, released the following statement:

Cleveland native Shontel Brown began her career in public service on the Warrensville Heights City Council in 2012. She went on to be elected to the Cuyahoga County Council where she currently serves. In 2017, Brown made history as the first woman and first Black person to be elected chair of the Cuyahoga County Democratic Party.
