IL-13 moved from likely Democrat to lean Democrat following first quarter campaign finance reports

Decatur, IL. – This week Sabato’s Crystal Ball moved Illinois’ thirteenth congressional district from “likely Democratic” to “lean Democratic”, setting up for a highly competitive race this fall. Sabato’s listed the thirteenth district among those that “have credible recruits” who will make the district competitive.

The change in rating is a direct result of the strong candidacy of Jesse Reising, a former federal prosecutor and sixth-generation son of Decatur. Reising raised $330,986 in the first quarter since he announced his campaign for Illinois’ Thirteenth Congressional District. The Cook Political Report also has IL-13 listed as a competitive race to watch.

“The Madigan-Pritzker machine gerrymandered this district for their chosen Biden-Bureaucrat, but people of this district aren’t fooled,” said Jesse Reising, Republican candidate for Illinois’ thirteenth congressional district. “Biden and the policies of establishment politicians have utterly failed the people of Central and Southern Illinois. We need a leader of one of our own who will fight to revitalize our area with good-earning jobs and safe communities.”

The new ratings come as President Biden’s disapproval ratings reach over fifty percent, according to Real Clear Politics.
