WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Carol Miller (R-WV) released the following statement regarding Nucor Corporation's decision to build a new state-of-the-art sheet mill in Mason County, West Virginia. The new facility will create nearly 800 full-time jobs and produce three million tons of steel annually.
"Today is a great day for West Virginia," said Congresswoman Miller. "Nucor's announcement is a testament to the hard work done at all levels of government to make our state more attractive to businesses and outside investment. The benefits of this $2.7 billion project – coupled with the hundreds of jobs it will bring – cannot be overstated. This is a historic investment in West Virginia that will spur continued growth and success for generations to come. Nucor's decision is a blessing for Mason County and our state. I am thrilled to welcome them to southern West Virginia."
Construction of the Mason County facility is expected to take two years and cost $2.7 billion. Nucor and its affiliates are manufacturers of steel and steel products, with operating facilities in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
