WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, EMILY’s List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed 15 women leaders for election to the New York City Council. Laphonza Butler, president of EMILY’s List, released the following statement:
“EMILY’s List is proud to endorse this group of strong, diverse women leaders for the New York City Council. If these candidates are elected, the Council will be majority-women for the first time in history. More gender equality in elected office means greater attention will be dedicated to the issues that most acutely impact women and families, including reproductive justice, affordable child care, and accessible health care. We are thrilled to support each of these women, and we look forward to the positive impact they will have on women, children, and families in New York.”

These endorsements are in addition to the following six previously endorsed EMILY’s List candidates in the race for New York City Council: Carlina Rivera (District 02), Althea Stevens (District 16), Adrienne Adams (District 28), Selvena Brooks-Powers (District 31), Jennifer Gutiérrez (District 34), and Farah Louis (District 45).
