The Fight Continues: EMILY’s List and partners host virtual reception celebrating Black women leaders.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Sept. 21, 2021, EMILY’s List, Emerge, Higher Heights for America, and #VOTEPROCHOICE will host a virtual event to highlight the work of Black women leaders and the fight that continues to elect them to office.

This year, #BlackWomenLead will feature remarks from Congresswoman Cori Bush (MO-01) and include two panels discussing the role of Black women in state legislatures and looking at what each of the four leading women’s organizations are doing to achieve a better future. The panel on Black state legislators will include North Carolina state Sen. Sydney Batch (SD-17), Florida state Rep. Fentrice Driskell (HD-63), and Georgia state Rep. Regina Lewis-Ward (HD-109). A representative from each hosting organization will take part in the panel discussion on leadership. Additionally, remarks will be given from Congresswoman Stacey Plaskett (D-Virgin Islands) and New York Attorney General Letitia James.
