Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today congratulated the Soulsville Foundation on being named one of 30 finalists for the Institute of Museum and Library Science’s National Medal.
Congressman Cohen made the following statement:
“The Stax Museum of American Soul Music has successfully communicated the legacy of soul music to the world for almost 20 years and deserves to be a finalist for the National Medal for Museum and Library Services. That’s why I was proud to nominate it for this prestigious award. I hope everyone will celebrate this outstanding museum and visit. I congratulate Soulsville Foundation President and CEO Richard Greenwald and the entire museum staff on this well-deserved recognition.”
National Medal winners will be announced the first week of June, and a national ceremony and celebration will be held in July. To learn more about the National Medals, visit the IMLS website.
