Congressman Cohen Announces $1.5 Million Grant for Youth Apprenticeship Program

Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that the South Memphis Renewal Community Development Corporation will receive a $1.5 million grant from the Department of Labor’s YouthBuild Program to support the development of apprenticeship and other career pathway models that prepare underserved young adults (16-24 years) who are not currently in school for jobs in construction and other in-demand industries.

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

“This YouthBuild grant funding will strengthen the job training efforts of the South Memphis Renewal Community Development Corporation and lead to good-paying, in-demand jobs. This is a big investment in the futures of our young people.”

Administered by the Office of Workforce Investment's Division of Youth Services, YouthBuild serves more than 5,000 youth in approximately 175 YouthBuild programs in more than 40 states.
