Carol Miller for Congress: Announces Grants for City of Princeton

West Virginia

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Carol Miller (R-WV) today announced two grants from the U.S. Department of Agriculture totaling $64,800 to the City of Princeton. The first grant, worth $22,300, will go to the Princeton Fire Department to purchase one X series manual monitor and defibrillator and five automated external defibrillators (AED) with covers. The second grant, worth $42,500, will go to the City of Princeton's public works department to purchase an excavator unit to adequately maintain streets and underground systems. Congresswoman Miller wrote Letters of Support for both grants, which will benefit over 23,000 West Virginians.

"In Congress, I'm working to bring more outside investment and opportunities to help southern West Virginia grow and thrive," said Congresswoman Miller. "It's important that we prepare our communities to support this type of progress – and these grants exemplify that. I've been a longtime advocate for Princeton to receive this funding, and I'm pleased to have worked with Mike Webb and the City of Princeton to see this process to completion. Together, all levels of government are working together to ensure the Mountain State is the best place to live, work, and raise a family."

"The two approved USDA Community Facilities Program grants received by the City of Princeton have been a blessing," said Mike Webb, Princeton City Manager. "The Princeton Fire Department was awarded $22,300 to assist in purchasing a Defibrillator/Monitor allowing them to provide critical care to our citizens when they need it most. The City of Princeton's Public Works Department received $42,500 in grant assistance to purchase a much needed new Excavator, providing long term equipment for street and underground maintenance repairs which is critical to the survival of our community. These grants were made possible with the Letters of Support provided through Congresswoman Miller's Office. It's this type of community support from our leaders in Washington that will keep our local towns and cities strong for years to come."
