Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that Bridge Builders will receive a grant of $214,981 and City Year Memphis will receive a grant of $1,123,200 supporting their work with students from AmeriCorps, the federal agency that administers AmeriCorps and other national service programs. In addition, Volunteer Tennessee, the state service commission, will also receive $3,272,078 in formula funding, which will in turn be awarded to state organizations to support additional AmeriCorps members in the coming months.
Congressman Cohen made the following statement:
“Students in Memphis benefit from the dedicated work of AmeriCorps members and this continued funding will assure the students can thrive. I am pleased to see this investment in our children’s futures and thank all AmeriCorps members for their service.”
The awards announced today include both FY22 Appropriations and American Rescue Plan funding, which was used to increase the AmeriCorps minimum living allowance and to stabilize and expand AmeriCorps programs in Tennessee.
