Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a senior member of the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, tonight voted for the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) of 2022, including two Memphis-centric projects that he proposed. The bill includes provisions to deauthorize the Wolf River to create a lake adjacent to the historic downtown Snuff District and to accommodate a floating entertainment dock at Cobblestone Landing.
The vote on passage was 384 to 37.
Congressman Cohen made the following statement:
“I was proud to advocate for the projects the City of Memphis requested for this year’s WRDA bill, and I am pleased to see that they were included in the bill that passed the House tonight. They will improve the quality of life downtown and become destinations, creating recreational opportunities for both residents and tourists. Combined with the $3.7 million Commerce Department grant to the Riverfront Development Corporation I announced yesterday, and the $3 million for improvements to Tom Lee Park that was among the community development projects I secured in the appropriations process this year, our city is being transformed.”
