Congressman Andy Levin (MI-09) released the following statement ahead of President Joe Biden's visit to Ford's Rouge Electric Vehicle Center on Tuesday, May 18:
"I'm so excited for President Biden to be here in Michigan as we usher in a new era of iconic electric vehicles, like the tremendously popular and uniquely American Ford F-150 truck, which will be made right here in metro Detroit. The critical next step to selling these vehicles and securing more UAW jobs in the decades ahead will be increasing consumer confidence that you can drive your F-150 anywhere in the United States without running out of juice, loaded up with camping gear to hit a national park, everything your kid needs to move into her college dorm, or other all-American road trips.
"My EV Freedom Act is the comprehensive policy we need to deploy 500,000 new public charging outlets as the President has pledged with special attention to creating good-paying, union jobs. I cannot wait to meet with the President to outline how our shared priorities can turbocharge our unionized, electrified future and on a livable planet."
