Congressman Andy Levin (MI-09), member of the House Education & Labor Committee, released the following statement on today's United Autoworkers Executive Board Meeting to elect new leadership after the announced retirement of President Rory Gamble:

"I look forward to working with new UAW president Ray Curry. We find ourselves at an incredible moment of technological change, and I will support his efforts to ensure electric and autonomous vehicle jobs are UAW jobs and that the cars of the future are built in America and centered right here in Detroit."

"As ‘my' Regional Director, Frank Stuglin has become one of my closest confidants in my time in Congress, and I am thrilled to see him become UAW Secretary-Treasurer. Frank has done so much to bolster and grow Region 1 amidst economic downturns, pandemics and more. Under his leadership, Region 1 has embraced the diverse communities of Macomb and Oakland Counties and continued to help new workers organize with the UAW through thick and thin.

"I salute Rory Gamble on his steadfast leadership for the working people of his union and of our nation. Rory embodied the core values of the UAW as he worked humbly to lift up his members and his union, and he leaves it stronger and in capable hands, ready for the challenges ahead."
