Alex Mooney for Congress: Introduces Protecting Religious Freedom in America Resolution

WASHINGTON – Congressman Alex X. Mooney (WV-02) today issued the following statement after reintroducing H.Res.94 – the Protecting Religious Freedom in America resolution:

 

“I’m proud to be the lead sponsor of the Protecting Religious Freedom in America resolution, which if adopted would express the sense of the House of Representatives that the government should not infringe on the rights of citizens to freely practice their religion. The freedom of religion, enshrined in the Bill of Rights, must be defended. I urge my colleagues in Congress to adopt this resolution to safeguard this fundamental right. Americans should never have to worry about their right to practice their faith,” said Congressman Alex X. Mooney.

 

Resolved, that it is the sense of the House of Representatives–

(1) the United States Government should not infringe upon the ability of American citizens to act in accordance with their sincerely held religious beliefs; and

(2) the United States Government condemns any behavior by the States that limits the ability of individuals to express their religious beliefs. 

 

Original cosponsors of the H.Res.94 – Protecting Religious Freedom in America resolution include: Jeff Duncan (SC-03), Doug Lamborn (CO-05), Ben Cline (VA-06), Ralph Norman (SC-05), Greg Steube (FL-17), Glenn Grothman (WI-06), Jody Hice (GA-10).
