Congressman Andy Levin (MI-09) released the following statement ahead of attending President Biden's Build Back Better event at International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 324's Construction Career Center:

"I'm always excited to welcome President Joe Biden to my home state of Michigan, and I'm especially thrilled he's coming to one of our amazing building trades training centers that produces some of the best-trained operating engineers in the world. Joe Biden, the working-class champ from Scranton, will visit this state-of-the-art facility where men and women are mastering heavy machinery to earn good-paying, union jobs and build our future.

"While the Build Back Better agenda is often thought of as human infrastructure for the incredible programs it features to finally give America's working class room to breathe, it also includes funding for hard, physical infrastructure that the President is highlighting today: massive investments in workforce training and apprenticeships for these jobs and in rebuilding all manner of infrastructure beyond roads and bridges, like our public schools. At a time when employers are struggling to find trained workers, this is essential to our economic recovery."

"That's why I have been fighting feverishly in Congress alongside my Progressive Caucus colleagues. I've been adamant that we need both the Build Back Better Act and the bipartisan infrastructure bill to move forward together to ensure we don't leave anyone behind and can deliver long-overdue investments in working people, families and our communities."
