Today, Congressman Andy Levin (MI-09), member of the House Education and Labor Committee and Deputy Whip of the Congressional Progressive Caucus released the following statement:

"After months of intense debate, the House of Representatives delivered on President Biden's agenda by passing both the Build Back Better Act and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. Together, these bills lift up working families, reduce poverty, rebuild our crumbling infrastructure and make vital investments to combat climate change.

"By ensuring the vast majority of families pay no more than seven percent of their income on childcare, providing universal pre-K for three- and four-year-olds, increasing funding for workforce training programs, allocating the largest-ever federal investment in housing and putting forth the most serious effort in the history of our nation to tackle climate change, the American people will feel transformative change for years to come. I am also glad to see that the Build Back Better Act includes key provisions that strengthen protections for workers' safety and ability to form a union and bargain collectively by instituting meaningful fines for unfair labor practices and violations of workforce safety.

"I'm grateful to my fellow progressive members of Congress who stuck together and held the line with unity and strength to fight for a human infrastructure package that does justice to the American people and the planet. I urge my colleagues in the Senate to advance this transformative bill quickly, so President Biden can sign it into law."
