Today, Congressman Andy Levin (MI-09) announced that Michigan will receive $1.3 billion in new federal funding under the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act to create good-paying, union jobs for Michiganders improving roads and bridges across the state. This is the first round of funding under the five years of federal investment in Michigan highways authorized by the bipartisan infrastructure law Congressman Levin voted to pass last month.

"For far too long, Michiganders across the state have felt the impact of our crumbling infrastructure and for years have asked for meaningful repair to our roads, bridges and highways. With this new funding from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, we will finally be able to do just that and take a strong first step toward strengthening our state's essential infrastructure," said Congressman Levin. "Under President Biden's leadership, House Democrats are delivering tangible change to the American people that will be felt for years to come. I was proud to vote for this historic legislation and look forward to seeing more federal funding flow into our communities here in Macomb and Oakland Counties."

After months of intense debate, the historic Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act was signed into law by President Biden on November 15, 2021. This law secured new federal funding for highway and bridge repair for communities across the nation, including funding directly for Macomb and Oakland Counties. The funds are administered by the U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal-aid Highway Program and can be used for construction, reconstruction or improvement efforts.
