WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Carol Miller (R-WV) today announced two grants from the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) to upgrade and expand southern West Virginia clean water systems. These projects will extend clean water service to over 200 businesses and 3,400 households.
"These grants are two significant steps forward in our state's mission to upgrade and expand its clean water infrastructure," said Congresswoman Miller. "I am thrilled that our region is receiving much-needed resources to rebuild and revitalize the communities we know and love. I thank the Appalachian Regional Commission for providing this funding to help make the Mountain State a better place to live, work, and raise a family."
The first grant, worth $1,500,000, has been awarded to the Wyoming County Commission for the Eastern Wyoming Public Service Project Water Treatment Plant Upgrade project. Specifically, this grant will equip two water treatment plants to treat surface water supply. This will result in improved drinking water and a reliable water supply for the region.
The Wilderness Public Service District in Nicholas County will receive the second grant of $1,696,00 for the Wilderness PSD Water System Extension and Upgrade project. These funds will provide stable and consistent water service to existing businesses and households, enable a planned resort to be built that will create 30 jobs, and support future economic development in western Nicholas County.
