On the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives this morning, U.S. Representative Tim Burchett (TN-02) set the record straight regarding the ongoing terrorist attacks against Israel.

Rep. Burchett reminded his House colleagues during his remarks that the recent attacks against Israel are driven by hatred and anti-Semitism on the part of Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (P.I.J.), two groups that President Bill Clinton's State Department listed as foreign terrorist organizations in 1997.

"It is a fact that if Hamas and P.I.J. were to lay down their weapons, there would be peace." Rep. Burchett said during his speech. "But if the Israelis laid theirs down, they would be exterminated. That's no secret because these two terrorist groups explicitly say their goal is to wipe Israel off the face of the map. And their actions back up their words."

Rep. Burchett also called out misguided opposition of Israel by some elected officials in Congress and members of the American mainstream media, pointing out Hamas and P.I.J. have zero empathy for loss of Palestinian civilian life.

"These terror groups are more than willing to use their own people as human shields for the sake of vilifying Israel. And unfortunately, the most radical members of Congress and the American mainstream media have bought this narrative hook, line, and sinker," Rep. Burchett said. "If you are going to blame Israel alone for the recent violence, you are being nothing more than a useful idiot and a publicity tool for two terrorist organizations."
