Summer Ratledge from Maryville High School will represent Tennessee's Second Congressional District in the U.S. Capitol as the winner of the 2021 Congressional Art Competition, U.S. Representative Tim Burchett (TN-02) announced this afternoon.
"Summer is a talented young artist and I congratulate her on winning this competition. Her wooden carved canvas in the shape Tennessee featuring paintings of our state flower, the iris, is a unique piece that is well representative of East Tennessee," Rep. Burchett said. "I'm looking forward to seeing her artwork hanging in the U.S. Capitol on my way to votes."
Ms. Ratledge's artwork will be featured in the U.S. Capitol for one year and will be displayed alongside 2021 Congressional Art Competition winners from other congressional districts across the country.
