Congressman Andy Levin (D-Bloomfield Township), alongside local mayors and city leaders, celebrated the ten local community projects he requested that will soon be signed into law by President Joe Biden.
Last year, Congressman Levin surveyed his communities and submitted Community Project Funding Requests to the Appropriations Committee. This week, all ten were funded in the House-passed omnibus bill agreed to by bipartisan leaders in the House and Senate. These projects will address regional environmental and water issues, equity and more.
The press conference was held at Madison Heights Public Library, a site that Congressman Levin secured $490,000 in federal funds for a complete renovation and expansion of the library to ensure the facility remains accessible for residents who depend on the library for tutoring, job hunting, computer use and social programs.

“We’re very appreciative and grateful for the efforts to secure funding for the Chapaton Retention Treatment Basin project. These funds will help reduce combined sewer overflows which unfortunately are discharged to Lake St. Clair during heavy rain events, and to improve water quality,” said Macomb County Public Works Commissioner Candice S. Miller in a statement to the Congressman’s office. “There’s no overstating the importance of improving Michigan’s infrastructure and protecting its natural resources.”
